Zumtobel Opens UK LightCentre
Zumtobel Lighting, a leading international manufacturer of integral lighting solutions for a wide variety of applications, has moved its British headquarters to upmarket Chalfont St. Peter in the county of Buckinghamshire. There Zumtobel has purpose-design and constructed of one of its most modern and inspirational LightCentres, covering an area of 340 m2. Easily accessible from London, the new state-of the-art LightCentre is not just a showcase for a comprehensive range of lighting solutions. It is also a place to meet lighting professionals, and those with a passion for light, for intellectual discussion and debate.
Zumtobel presents trend-setting lighting solutions for various application areas in 18 Light Forums and LightCentres around the world. In Chalfont St. Peter, visitors can learn about innovative lighting application techniques and luminaires that aid intelligent lighting designs through application spaces known as “App Spaces.” In addition to individualized advice and service, emphasis is always placed on experiencing light as a medium, not as a product.
“The LightCentre is based on an application cube concept which allows us to provide hands-on presentations and demonstrations of our lighting concepts to visitors for every application, including, offices, retail, education, health & care, art & culture and façades & architecture. Authentic staging makes it possible to experience light and its effects in a completely unique way. This enables us to cater to the specific requirements of our customers and demonstrate alternative solutions,” commented Steve Shackleton, Zumtobel Lighting’s Marketing Director, describing this new facility and its capabilities.
The Zumtobel brand is associated with aesthetic design and a clear stylistic idiom. This purist design flare is evident at the Chalfont St. Peter LightCentre. Highly atmospheric center-stage settings and selective accent lighting allow visitors to experience the ways in which light can be used to create the right atmosphere and ideal lighting conditions. The emphasis is on presenting lighting solutions using the latest cutting-edge LED technology and combining energy savings with lighting comfort.
The design concept of the LightCentre demonstrates Zumtobel’s lighting expertise and knowledge of the uses of light. It includes a vast array of distinctive features, including the first daylight demonstration in which visitors can have first-hand experience of the interaction between daylight and electric lighting.
Focusing on customers’ needs
Zumtobel has been operating in the UK for 26 years. Having supplied lighting solutions to some of the most iconic buildings all over the UK, Zumtobel has helped drive innovation, market education and best practice lighting. The fundamental philosophy, “lighting quality is paramount,” remains unchanged. The newest LightCentre is intended to drive innovation and education even further still.
The company announced plans for a new symposium, A Light Less Ordinary. The symposium will explore
- Lighting for Humans: the physiological, biological and psychological effects of daylight and electric light
- Lighting for Purity: minimizing materials, energy legislation, and project performance
- Lighting for Inspiration: lighting for architectural personality, vibrancy and materialization.
The symposium is educational in nature and CPD accredited. To be held at the Chalfont St. Peter LightCentre, it will benefit any professional engaged in the selection or specification of lighting solutions, or simply those with an interest in or love of light.
