Large Solar Power System Tops iGuzzini Factory
Sustainable quality is deeply rooted into the DNA of iGuzzini, the leading specification lighting manufacturer in Italy. Producing sustainable quality is not limited to the efficient use of light. iGuzzini is vigilant of its environmental impact along every step of the production process, employing, where possible, the latest innovations to reduce its carbon footprint. Testament to this is the company’s investment in photovoltaic panels at its headquarters in Recanati. The network of panels is capable of supplying nearly 2 million kWh per year, a large portion of the plant’s power requirements.
The system comprises 6529 monocrystalline solar modules, which have been integrated and fitted on top of the four main production halls, covering a total area of 10,600 square meters and producing a total nominal power of 1599.610 kWp.
The conversion of energy from direct (DC) to alternate current (AC) is carried out in five electric cabins, which are connected to external utility lines under a partial assignment system. In this manner, the system feeds excess power into public lines, ensuring that the company remains energy-efficient at all times.
The company’s commitment to sustainable development is an integral part of product strategies that aim to improve energy saving through high-performance optics, use of new lamps, luminaire control and management systems. Through this new solar initiative, iGuzzini confirms that it is dedicated to a sustainable future.
