Riverpoint Marketplace, West Sacramento CA
The City of West Sacramento commissioned a sculpture for the regional retail center, Riverpoint Marketplace. This important retail center includes anchor tenants such as WalMart, Home Depot, IKEA and Ross.
“Synergy” is a 26-foot tall stainless steel and bronze sculpture created by Alber De Matteis, a noted sculptor with works in California, Europe, and South America. The artwork pays homage to the two rivers that have nurtured and sustained West Sacramento. Each evening the sculpture transforms from a metallic bronze and stainless finish to an ever changing wash of color.
ALLSCAPE’s local agent along with the ALLSCAPE sales team were brought together with the artist and the city to plan for what the sculpture would transform into at night. Pictured is a rendering from AGI software showing the various color capabilities and fixture recommendations.

The artist wanted the sculpture to be lit completely from the bottom to the top. To accomplish this required a fixture to be placed very close to the sculpture, (1ft. setback) with tilt capability. The SL-29 and SL-43 products were recommended to use in this application. Philips Solid State LED color engines were specified for the color changing. As you can see, the end result is remarkably true to the rendered image.

Three color changing LED SL-29 fixtures are placed in front of each sculpture constantly changing color, and two SL-43 fixtures on each side to frame the sculptures with white LED light.

The final result transforms the image at night to an eye-catching landmark for the Riverpoint Marketplace.
