THE PROFESSIONAL LIGHTING SUMMIT 2012
3 – 4th October, 2012.
Brighton, UK.
The Professional Lighting Summit comprises two full days of stimulating presentations running concurrently with interactive workshops. A complementary exhibition means that no matter what aspects of lighting most interest you there will always be something of relevance. The summit is organised by the Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) which is the UK and Ireland’s largest professional lighting association, dedicated solely to excellence in lighting. Founded in 1924 as the Association of Public Lighting Engineers, the ILP has evolved to include lighting designers, consultants and engineers amongst its 1,500 strong membership.

We understand the pressures on lighting professionals and have acknowledged that getting time away from the workplace is becoming more difficult by compressing our premier event into two very full days.
Who should attend?
Professionals from all areas of lighting. We strongly recommend attendance for lighting engineers, designers, consultants, manufacturers and architects. We welcome members and non-members alike.
Why attend the Professional Lighting Summit
2012 is a year of change for the lighting industry. With a new BS5489-1 design standard and a Professional Lighting Guide utilising the S/P ratio of lamps to reduce lighting levels there is much for the practicing lighting designer to understand.
There are technical papers and interactive workshops included within the programme to ensure that attendees are prepared for key changes. The value of networking with fellow lighting professionals and the sharing of ideas will be an invaluable benefit from attendance.
Competency is a huge issue in the lighting industry. When lighting practitioners are making recommendations on sensitive issues such as part-night lighting and de-illumination, it is essential that they are well informed on the latest best practice and have recognised standards of competency. Demonstrable levels of competency are being demanded by clients, guidance documents and legislation. Attendance at the 2012 Professional Lighting Summit will play an important role in the development of all lighting professionals.
