The self-sufficient and sustainable use of energy is a subject of rapidly increasing importance in the modern world. The main theme of Light+Building 2012 is energy efficiency. The focal points are digitalisation of light and buildings and buildings as a green power station.
Around 2,100 exhibitors take part in Light+Building at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre and almost one in two of the over 183,000 visitors comes from outside Germany. After Germany, the top ten visitor nations are The Netherlands, Italy, Austria, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, China, Spain, Belgium and Sweden. The most important visitor target groups are architects, interior architects, designers, planners, engineers, artisans, the distributive trades and industry.

Luminale 2012
The Luminale in 2012 will accompany the Light + Building (15.– 20th April, 2012). The Luminale extends the Light+Building in the evening and the night. Some exhibitors use this very popular off-program of the fair to present themselves also in the city of Frankfurt with a light event. Light planners, architects, designers, artists realize light projects in the public space, in the museums and galleries, parks and on the building sites and places of FrankfurtRheinMain.

NIGHTSEEING™ FRANKFURT ANNOUNCED FOR APRIL 18TH, 2012 AS PART OF LUMINALE OFFICIAL FESTIVITIES
NightSeeing is an educational and inspirational special-event that aims to raise awareness of light, and shadow, for nighttime environments in cities worldwide, as well as to provide an overview of lighting theory to the general public and design professionals alike. Technilum, the French urban furniture manufacturer and Leni Schwendinger of Light Projects, LTD will be hosting NightSeeing Frankfurt as part of Luminale 2012 official events being held during Light + Building, the world’s leading trade fair for Architecture and Technology, in Frankfurt am Main.
“As designers and manufacturers of urban furniture, we truly understand and appreciate the impact of illumination, shapes, materials, and the close study of an environment and its surroundings and how it can impact a project,” commented Benoit SAES, Technilum Director – Commercial Sales Manager. “ We believe that NightSeeing Frankfurt provides a great opportunity to experience firsthand the visual imagery of both old and modern world designs and their affect in the nighttime environment in the beautiful heart of Frankfurt.”
NightSeeing Frankfurt will consist of a LightTalk that will begin at 19:00 at the Haus am Dom, Domplatz 3 located in the very heart of Frankfurt, next to the Frankfurt cathedral. During this event, NightSeeing founder Leni Schwendinger will present a short educational program and then guide a LightWalk thru a designated route to discover the hidden atmospheres of Frankfurt’s nighttime environment.
NightSeeing has gained a regular following of attendees and continues to attract enthusiastic crowds at events in worldwide including Washington D.C.; New York City, NY; London, UK; Lyon, France and now Frankfurt, Germany.
