International Dark-Sky Association 2012 Annual General Meeting

The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place in conjunction with the inaugural Arizona Science and Astronomy Expo (ASAE).

The IDA AGM is open to everyone who attends the ASAE. Saturday’s sessions run from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm and will feature talks on light pollution by a wide-variety of experts. Talks will provide updates on IDA activities, light pollution legislation in the US and around the world, night sky programs in the US National Parks, and more. IDA Executive Director Bob Parks, IDA Managing Director Scott Kardel, Dark Sky Ranger Kevin Poe of the National Park Service, Martin Morgan Taylor, William Wren of McDonald Observatory and more are scheduled to speak.

Saturday’s talks will conclude with presentations of IDA’s annual Dark Sky Defender Awards, Outdoor Lighting Design Awards and more. A reception for IDA members will follow.

Sunday November 11 will see IDA’s annual public board meeting, including the installation of  newly elected board members.
