CSA Expands Testing Services in China

CSA, a leading testing and certification organization, officially opened its state-of-the-art testing and certification laboratory in Hong Kong; a new testing and certification laboratory as well as the expansion of its product evaluation and consulting center in Shanghai; plus the expansion of its Guangzhou lab with the addition of new energy-efficiency verification (EEV) testing equipment and added capabilities.

Hong Kong

Equipped with advanced technology, the new lab in Hong Kong will provide significant localized testing capabilities for manufacturing clients, including lighting and household appliances. Located in Shatin, the new office and laboratory facility occupies 5129 square feet. The new lab provides qualified testing and certification services locally, helping manufacturers reduce costs and time-to-market, and improve product quality.

CSA’s Hong Kong laboratory is staffed by a team of experienced testing professionals trained on relevant North American and international standards to best serve its customers. Working closely with clients in the testing and certification process, CSA provides high-quality and timely services to Hong Kong manufacturers seeking to export their products to North America.

Shanghai

Located in Qilai Industry City, the Shanghai laboratory has an area of 2600 m2 and is equipped with cutting-edge testing facilities. Product testing categories include: LED lighting products, electric heating appliances, motor and motor-operated appliances, tools and gardening implements, welding machines, IT components and equipment and power devices. The lab will conduct testing against Canadian, US, and other international standards.

Additionally, a newly expanded state-of-the-art consumer Product Evaluation and Consulting Centre offers services encompassing the entire lifecycle of a product: from design through pre-purchase testing, factory evaluation, pre-shipment inspection, and product comparison testing. To meet customers’ increasing demand, this center has been expanded to provide Energy Star testing and customized performance evaluations for CFLs, LEDs, and other high-efficiency lighting products.

Having published more than 75 standards covering renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and earth energy systems, CSA can offer new services to Chinese customers to help them meet global and Chinese “green” trends and mandatory environmental obligations.

Guangzhou

In 2008, CSA established a joint venture, CCIC-CSA International Certification Company Limited, with China Certification and Inspection Group (CCIC). That November, CSA International opened its first China testing and certification laboratory in Guangzhou, strengthening its commitment to the China market.

Located in the High-tech Development Zone, the lab comprises an area of over 3800 m2. The expanded facility is the second CSA Guangzhou laboratory. Meeting increased demand from local producers of LED lighting products, this lab now includes LED lighting testing and certification services as well as EEV services. The state-of-the-art lab will also test numerous products to various international standards across a wide range of industries, including gas, plumbing, and electrical products.
