Bobo Explores Light App Wins Apple Design Award
A little over a year ago, a picture of a robot was scribbled on a piece of brown craft paper. He was named “Bobo”and in September 2011 he made his debut exploring the science behind light and delighting children and adults around the globe. In June at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple recognized the Bobo Explores Light App for iPad with an Apple Design Award “for being totally state-of-the-art and breaking the mold for digital textbooks.”
Bobo Explores Light takes fundamental science concepts for school‐age children, and injects them with humor, astonishment and whimsy. Children are accompanied by Bobo, a space‐age robot with a child’s sense of humor and spirit of wonder – and one special superpower, a holographic projector.
Designed for children ages 8-12, Bobo Explores Light introduces kids to light-related topics, from photosynthesis to the human eye to the aurora borealis. In each section, readers engage in hands‐on experimentation to build a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
