Architainment Lighting takes to the streets of London for charity night hike
For the third year in a row, Architainment Lighting Ltd. embarked on a 20 mile hike across London through the night in order to raise money for cancer support charity, Maggie’s Centre.
As in previous years, the team of LED lighting specialists dubbed “Team Easily LED,” comprising employees from Architainment Lighting Ltd and EcoSense Lighting joined approximately 2500 other individuals to trek 20 miles across the capital at night. Their aim: to raise money to support those living with the effects of cancer.
Both the charity and the event itself have strong associations with the architectural and lighting industries, and lighting is therefore a key aspect of the night hike experience. Participants write messages for loved ones on paper bags, all of which are then illuminated for other walkers to read en route.
A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer. Under one roof someone can receive information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses, and stress-reducing strategies. A Maggie’s Centre is many things to many people – there isn’t one way to live with cancer. There are several centers across the UK, no appointment or referral is required. Everything offered is free of charge, which is why the money raised from the annual night hike is so crucial to the charity’s work.
Commenting on the walk, Architainment Lighting Sales Director Paul Rees said, “The night hike has become something the team looks forward to every year now for several reasons: it is a great opportunity to raise money for a really worthwhile cause, spend time together as a team, and see some of the city’s landmark’s that we have worked on, light up the London skyline.”
After raising £3,360 from last year’s night hike, and a further £4,288 earlier this year for a 60 km trek across the South Downs, the team fell short with fundraising for this fall night hike. Team Easily LED asks that you show your support by donating; any amount large or small is greatly appreciated.
